When does my warranty start?
Your warranty starts from the day you take delivery, whether the machine has been used or not.
What should I do if my machine has been delivered via. courier company and I notice it has damage to it?
This must be reported to your distributor within 24 hours of you receiving the item. No claim for damage or shortage will be considered unless this is done.
Why is this?
If the item has been damaged in transit from us to you we can make a claim against the courier company. They insist we make claims within 24 hours, otherwise the goods will be considered to have been delivered in perfect condition and complete.
What warranty do I get with my new machine?
You get a an initial one month full warranty, in which time all bona fide warranty issues will be free of charge. After this period we will still assist with problems but all parts and service work will be chargeable.
Why is the warranty period so short?
Petrol scooters are designed for light tarmac use, preferably in the dry combined with a level of ongoing maintenance. Unfortunately most machines are used in any weather conditions and on any surface without any maintenance. This creates a warranty problem for suppliers and manufacturers alike.
The machines are very serviceable and the parts are relatively low cost, and are similar in many ways to pedal bikes which make them relatively easy to work on, many customers prefer to repair the machines themselves as it is appreciated that most problems arise due to use beyond the machines limitations.
What parts are NOT covered under my warranty?
Basically parts that either move or that wear through use. It is impossible to ascertain the amount of use a machine or part has had and what level of maintenance the machine or part has received. A petrol scooter could have done over 100 hours use easily in one month, if used a lot, that's about 6 years equivalent use of say a lawn mower or strimmer .Therefore parts not covered at any time under warranty are as follows:
What is covered then?
There doesn't seem much left that is covered, why is this?
This is true, but experience has shown if the machines are used incorrectly as small motor crossers or stunt bikes, damage quickly occurrs which is often attempted to be passed off as a warranty issue. We feel it is better to let customers know what is likely to happen, and then customers can make an informed decision before they purchase.
How will my warranty operate?
Within the first month if your machine develops a fault you can contact your distributor or Pocketbikez and your warranty will operate as follows:
1. Any problem should be referred to Pocketbikez who will evaluate the problem and suggest a solution.
2. In the fist instance we will expect customers to fit straightforward parts themselves with technical help from Pocketbikez. This will avoid the machine being returned which more often than not leads to further damage occurring in transit due to the original packaging having been discarded.
3. We will send parts free of charge in the first month providing the repair is covered under warranty.
4. If the repair is beyond the customers capabilities we will request that the machine is returned for the repair to be carried out in our workshops. It should be noted, NO MACHINE WILL BE ACCEPTED BACK FOR REPAIR UNLESS IT IS SENT IN THE FULL ORIGINAL PACKAGING.
5. Providing the original packaging is available, we will instruct our courier to collect the machine from you, we will carry out the repair and return the machine to you at your cost. Machines which are collected and returned and that are later found to not be a warranty repair will be charged at our standard workshop rate of £20 per hour. Courier charges will be applicable at the rate of £20 for a collection, £15 for a delivery.
6. You will be advised when your repaired machine is going to be sent back to you. Courier company's charge us for failed deliveries, this will be the responsibility of the customer at a cost of £6 per missed delivery.
After one month customers will need to fit spares themselves with technical help from your distributor or MiniMotoSpecialist.co.uk
What happens if I have lost the original packaging or it has been thrown away?
Your machine will not be collected by our courier. You will have to find a carrier at your cost and we will not take any responsibility for any damage. Once the machine is received we will only resend via our courier if a new packaging charge is agreed of £30. If this is not accepted it will be the responsibility of the customer to organise collection of the machine. We will only refund courier charges inline with the costs we incur with our courier.
Why is this?
Petrol scooters do not travel well unless they are very well packaged. Experience has shown machines not packaged in the designed packaging tend to arrive with scratches, cracks and broken parts. These damages cannot be claimed against the courier company, and situations develop with customers which only lead to disagreements which we do not want. Re packaging a machine costs money and is very time consuming. Courier companies will not entertain a claim for small damages that have been caused through poor packaging.
What happens if the machine arrives back to us without the original packaging?
Should this occur, we will not take any responsibility for any damage, and you will be charged £30 for new packaging when the machine is returned to you.
